The school building
We are different from other Spanish language schools in Barcelona. Even our school building is different, with a large private shady garden – very popular with our students during breaks between classes and after lessons!

Our tutors
All our teachers are native Spanish tutors, with a university degree and specific training in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. Our tutors really know how to teach Spanish and how to make learning the language interesting and enjoyable!

The Spanish lessons
The lessons take place in attractive, spacious, air-conditioned classrooms, all with large windows and lots of sunlight providing a first class language learning environment. There are never more than 10 students per class, with an average of 7.

School Internet cafe
The school has a large Internet café, overlooking our school garden, providing free and unlimited Internet access for all our students. The school is also WIFI enabled, so students can use their own laptops, free-of-charge.

Cultural Program
We organise an extensive cultural program, not only to help our students practise the Spanish that they learn in class, but also to ensure that they make friends and really enjoy their time in Barcelona! There are evenings out with tutors, guided visits to places of interest within Barcelona, parties in the school, Spanish film evenings, plus ‘cultural lessons’ in the afternoons on topics such as ‘The Spain of today’, ‘Spanish Films’, etc.

Standard Course
Number of lessons: 20 Spanish lessons per week
Duration: From 1 to 48 weeks
Timetable:  Monday: From 10.00 to 14.00 or in the afternoon from 15.00 to 19.00 / Tuesday to Friday: From 09.00 to 13.00 or in the afternoon from 14.00 to 18.00
Students per class: Maximum 10
Starting dates: Every Monday except for beginners.
Available all year except for bank and christmas holidays. 

Intensive Course (25 lessons per week)
This course is ideal if you want to learn as much Spanish as possible in the time that you have available to you. There are 25 Spanish lessons per week, with a maximum of 10 students per class (average 7). The course takes place in the mornings, Monday to Friday, 5 lessons per day. The exact timetable is given below. On this course, you still have plenty of time to see Barcelona, as most part of your afternoons and the whole weekends are completely free. So, though the course is intensive, it’s not too intensive! Most students can start on any Monday of the year, except for complete beginners, for whom there are specific start dates.

Number of lessons: 25 Spanish lessons per week
Duration: From 1 to 48 weeks
Timetable:  Monday: From 10.00 to 15.00 or in the afternoon from 14.00 to 19.00
Tuesday to Friday: From 09.00 to 14.00 or in the afternoon from 13.00 to 18.00

Standard Plus (20 general lessons + 5 private lessons)
This course is composed of 20 group lessons, plus 5 private lessons per week. In the private lessons, you can concentrate on whatever you prefer – speaking skills, writing, or to use Spanish for a particular job, or to pass a particular exam. The course is ideal if you have little time and want to learn as much Spanish as possible in the time you have, or if you have a very particular reason for wishing to learn Spanish and want to use your private lessons to learn the particular Spanish you need. The group lessons take place in the mornings, Monday to Friday, 4 lessons per day, and the private lessons in the afternoon (5 lessons per week). Most students can start on any Monday of the year, except for complete beginners, for whom there are specific start dates.

Number of lessons: 20 group lessons per week + 5 private lessons per week
Duration: From 1 to 48 weeks
Timetable:  Group lessons: From 9.00 to 13.00 + 1 private lesson per day at agreed time

'One-to-one' Private Lessons
The One-to-One courses consist of 10, 20 or 30 private Spanish lessons per week. These courses are the perfect choice if you have particular needs that you do not feel will be met in a group course, or if you simply wish to have more individualised attention, so as to learn faster. The private lessons normally take place in the mornings or afternoons, Monday to Friday, at a time agreed with the student. You can concentrate on whatever areas of language you wish in your private lessons. The course will be designed to meet your particular needs and interests and will be perfectly tailored to your particular level. You can start your course on any Monday. If you like, you can combine this One-to-One course with our Intensive Spanish Course.

Business Spanish (10 business lessons)
Spanish for business gives students an insight into the business culture in Spain and allows them to improve their business language. Students can coose this course of 10 lessons per week either in addition to the intensive course or separately. . Ideal for those that need to supplement their studies in Spanish with basic knowledge of the business environment. The content of the business course is adapted to the specific needs of the students. Topics will include negotiation, the telephone, business correspondence, as well as a general overview of the company structure and the socio-economic situation in Spain.

Number of lessons: 10 classes of Business Spanish
Duration: 4 weeks
Minimum level: Upper-intermediate
Starting dates: March 2, 9, 16, 23, May 18, 25, June 2, 8, November 16, 23, 30, December 7 of 2011

DELE Examination Preparation Course (20 lessons per week)
The most prestigious and most widely internationally recognised examinations in Spanish as a Foreign Language are the DELE examinations – ‘Diploma de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera’. These exams run at 3 levels – ‘Inicial’, ‘Intermedio’ and ‘Superior’. Our DELE Examination Preparation Course will prepare you to take these exams.

We will advise you as regards the appropriate exam for your level of Spanish – The ‘Inicial’, the ‘Intermedio’ , or the ‘Superior’ exam. A student who is a complete beginner would need to attend an Intensive Course (20 lessons/week) of a minimum of 8 weeks, followed by a 4-week DELE Examination Preparation Course in order to stand a good chance of passing the DELE ‘Inicial’ Exam. Depending on your level of Spanish and on which of the DELE exams you wish to take, you may, or may not need to attend an Intensive Spanish Course at our school before starting the DELE Examination Preparation Course. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding which examination is appropriate to your level of Spanish.

General information of courses

- The school will be closed on these days. However, any private lessons lost because of these holidays will be
  hold up on other days.

- Level test: If you are not a complete beginner, you will have a level test on the first day of your course, in which
  your written and spoken Spanish will be carefully assessed. You will then be placed in a group which is correct for
  your level of Spanish.

Shared flat
Many of our students choose to stay in Standard Self Catering Apartment. Each apartment has a kitchen, bathroom, living room and 3 or 4 bedrooms. Most apartments also have
balconies. Typically, 4 to 6 people live in each apartment, normally a mixture of international students and Spaniards. A shared student apartment is an excellent choice, if you wish to
cook for yourself and enjoy the experience of sharing an apartment. Shared apartment accommodation gives you complete independence and is also a great way to meet people
and make friends.

The apartments are fully furnished and equipped, including washing machine and TV.You can choose to stay in a single room, or in a twin (shared) room. Our standard self-catering
apartments in Barcelona are all located either within walking distance of the school, or else at a maximum of 20 minutes by public transport

However, if you want to be certain that your self-catering apartment will be just 10 minutes´ walk from our school, in the centre of Barcelona, you should choose to stay in one of our
Superior Student Apartments. These apartments are also a much higher standard of accommodation than the Standard Self-Catering Apartments.
 

School Residence
A student residence is a good option if you wish to stay with students, but do not want to stay in a host family and would prefer not to be in a shared apartment.

In a Standard Student Residence, you will normally be sharing the residence with Spanish students and sometimes international students as well. You can choose to stay in a single room, or in a twin (shared) room. Some residences also have triple rooms. 'All our residences offer half board (breakfast, plus another meal) accommodation. It is sometimes possible to have half board (2 meals per day) or full board (3 meals per day) options. Unlike in shared apartments, it is unfortunately not possible to cook for yourself in a student residence. Our standard student residences in Barcelona are located either within walking distance of the school, or else at a maximum of 20 minutes by public transport.

However, you should consider staying in our Superior Student Residence, if you want a higher standard of accommodation, and if you want to be sure that your accommodation is located in the centre of Barcelona, just 10 minutes walk from our school.

 

Spanish Host Family
Staying with a Spanish host family is the best option for students who wish to learn as much Spanish as possible in the time available to them. This is because if you
choose to stay with a Spanish host family you will be totally immersed in the Spanish language, with lots opportunities to practise in the family the Spanish that you learn in class.

Though Catalan is spoken by many people in Barcelona, all our families will speak only standard Castilian Spanish to our students. Though there may be more than one student
in a host family, we normally ensure that there are never two students of the same mother tongue in a host family, unless you specifically ask to be placed in the same family
as a friend or relative. A host family can be a married or unmarried couple, or a single person, with or without children. If you have a preference, please let us know. If you are for any
reason unhappy in your host family, you will be moved, without question. 
 
 
Private Apartment (studio or apartment)
We can arrange accommodation in private studio apartments, for students who do not wish to share an apartment with other students, and who do not want to stay in a host familyor school residence. These studio apartments are fully-equipped, with kitchenette, private bathroom, TV and washing machine. They provide private, high standard self-catering accommodation for one or two people, but are of a higher price category..

Each studio apartment generally has one bed, sometimes two. A few studio apartments have a double bed.

The studio apartments are in central Barcelona, located either within walking distance of the school, or else at a maximum of 20 minutes by public transport
